Obituary of Shirley P. Cole
The death of Shirley Cole, wife of the late Douglas Cole occurred at Bobby’s Hospice on Sunday, December 29, 2013. She was born on November 19, 1925 in Westchester, NS to the late Sumner and Susie Purdy. Shirley devoted her life to raising her family. She was an active member of Germain Street Baptist Church and volunteered at the South End Food Bank. She is survived by her sons: Wayne Cole (Linda) Ottawa, ON and Gerald Cole Vancouver, BC; daughter, Diane Novaczek Rothesay; grandchildren: Katherine Novaczek (Phillip Perry) Saint John, Emily Cole Ottawa, ON, Matthew Cole Saint John, Sydney Cole Mississauga, ON and Samantha Cole Vancouver, BC and six nieces. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers, Aubrey, Keith and Fulton and sister, Pauline. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Thursday from 2:00 – 5:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to Bobby’s Hospice or the South End Food Bank would be appreciated by the family.
