Obituary of Clarence Gerald Steeves
The death of Clarence Steeves occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on February 1, 2014 after a short battle cancer. He was born on December 11, 1952 in Saint John to the late Kenneth and Kathleen (Whelpley) Steeves. Clarence worked for the New Brunswick Department of Transportation on various river ferries in the greater Saint John Area. He was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #22 for over 30 years and volunteered in the kitchen for Saturday morning breakfast. Clarence was an avid dart, pool and softball player. He is survived by his sisters: Mary Ganong (David), Helen Horgan (Mike) and Debbie Long (Jim); good friend, Mackie Wickens and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Diane Wickens and brother, Harold Steeves. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 12:00 noon. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute Service will be held before the funeral. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the RCL Branch #22 Grand Bay-Westfield would be appreciated by the family.
