Obituary of Joan Kennedy
The death of Joan Kennedy of Saint John, wife of the late Richard Kennedy occurred peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2014, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Saint John on November 10, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Judge Henry and Catherine (Macdonald) McInerney. Joan took great comfort in her faith and was a devoted member of St. Peter's Church. In her younger years, she was also active with the CWL. Joan was a kind-hearted and gentle lady. She was always a loving and gracious neighbour to her community of friends at St. Peter's senior complex. Joan devoted her life to caring for the needs of her family and she will always be lovingly missed. Joan is survived by sons, Christopher Kennedy (Lori) of Saint John and Rick Kennedy (Anne) of Hampton, daughters, Catherine Kennedy (Dewey Janes) of Dipper Harbour and Mary Murphy (Richard "Dick") of Saint John; brother, Harry McInerney (Elizabeth) of Saint John; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Harold Henneberry; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother, George McInerney and sisters, Marjorie Knoll, Marion Watts, Dorothy Lunney, Christine McInerney, Mary McInerney, Rita Henneberry, Eleanor Record and Catherine "Bobby" Lawson. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Peter's Church, 50 Clarendon Street, Saint John, on Thursday, February 20, 2014, at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery, at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances made to St. Peter's Church would be appreciated by the family.
