Obituary of Thomas F. Mercer
Surrounded by his family the death of Tommy Mercer, husband of Mary Mercer occurred at Bobby's Hospice on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. He was born on April 16, 1951 in Saint John to Mary (Hart) Mercer and the late William Mercer. Tommy was a member of Local 842 - International Brotherhood of Ironworkers working at Point Lepreau for the last number of years. He was an avid shuffle board player. Tommy is survived by his wife of over 42 years, Mary; his sons: Jason (Natasha) of Grand Bay-Westfield and Joel (Melody) of Fredericton; brothers: Jack (Leigh), Patrick (Bernice), Larry (Arlene), Ian (Theresa) andEugene "Louie" (Delores); sisters: Ann Marie McDonough, Christine Scribbans, Judy Steeves and Jacqueline Ards (Patrick); brother-in-law, Danny Thompson (Susan); sister-in-law, Joan Mercer and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and brother, Bobby. A special thank you to Ralph Johnson and Dr. Keripe for the exceptional care and compassion they showed Tommy during this difficult time. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Friday from 2:00 - 9:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place in Hardings Point Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances to Bobby’s Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
