Obituary of Robert Hubert Powers
Robert "Bobby" Hubert Powers passed away at home on July 29, 2015. Born in Memramcook, on April 1, 1947 and was a son of the late Jesse S. and Stella (Goguen) Powers. In 1968 Bobby joined the Saint John City Police Force and retired in 2001 as Detective Sergeant, (Major Crime Unit). He was an avid sports fan, and was disappointed after waiting 40 years to see a Yankee game and it was rained out. Bobby also love to hunt and fish. His favourite saying was "Every day is a Saturday". Surviving are his spouse, Lorraine Young; children, Richard Powers (Gisele), Sussex and Cheryl (Michael) Roy, Fredericton; brothers, Raymond Powers, Hampton; his twin, Ralph (Elsa) Powers, Texas; Ronnie (Gayle) Powers, Saint John; sister, Ruthie Sherwood, St. Stephen; grandchildren, Amanda and Robbie Hachey; Rachel and Kendra Roy; many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, David Powers. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). As per Bobby’s wishes, no visitation or funeral service will be held, (he didn’t even want this obituary). For those who wish, remembrances made to the Canadian Diabetes Association (NB Chapter), or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, would be appreciated by the family.
