Obituary of Leroy Paul Collrin
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of an awesome person, Lee, at his home on June 23, 2014. Lee was the chosen son of the late Annie (Starkey) Collrin and Joseph Collrin. He was the last member of his large family. Lee was predeceased by four baby siblings; brothers, Earle and Louis; sisters, Agnes Barton, Roberta Fitzgerald, Rose Grant, and Cecilia Flowers; one special nephew Tommy Grant; six brothers in law, Ken Bowes, Ron Bowes, Frank Leaver, George Barton, Clarence Fitzgerald, and Tommy Grant; sister-in-law, Grace Bowes and one special grandson, Jeret Melvin. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Geraldine (Bowes); his son, Kenneth (Maureen); daughters, Deborah McLean (Len), Diana Melvin (Ross), Linda Campbell (Brian), Doreen Page (David) and Patsy Robison (Darren); 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one special niece, Hilda Grant; 3 sisters in law, Paulette Collrin, Carol Bowes and Frances Leaver; and many, many nieces and nephews. Lee was a member of the 3rd Royal Canadian Regiment in Korea and 1st Canadian Guards on his return. He retired from City Laundry after 20 plus years. He was a volunteer for meals on wheels and the Rodney Sea Cadet Band. He was also an avid woodworker. He was a member of the Korean Veterans Association. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Thursday June 26, 2014 at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish remembrances to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
