Obituary of Cecil Frederick Colwell
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Cecil Frederick Colwell announce his passing which occurred on September 14, 2015 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born on March 13, 1931 to the late Cecil and Alberta (Galbraith) Colwell. Cecil was an avid sports fan of all sports. He was a Sea Dogs season ticket holder and enjoyed playing horseshoes, but lawn bowling topped them all. Cecil was a member of the Seaside Lawn Bowling Club and won the Bronze Medal at the Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships. He will be missed by all who knew him. Cecil is survived by his children: Bruce (Stacey) Colwell, Philip (Tanya) Colwell, and Janice (John LeBlanc) Colwell, the mother of his children Phyllis Colwell, his grandchildren: Scott, Amy, Kristen, Kelsey, Jodi and Chad, his great grandchildren: Noah and Naya, his siblings: Doris Hatfield of Fredericton, Norma Cairns of Edmonton, Robert Colwell of Saint John, Laureen Colwell of Fredericton, and Kenneth (Carlotta) Colwell of Saint John, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Cecil is predeceased by his brothers Donald and Murray. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). In keeping with Cecil’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. A committal service will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 11 am in Old Cedar Hill Cemetery for family and friends.
