Obituary of Marcel Joseph Lavoie
Marcel Joseph Lavoie of Saint John, husband of the late Marilyn E. (Dickison) Lavoie, passed away unexpectedly in Sussex, New Brunswick on Saturday, November 16, 2013. Born in North Minto on April 29, 1945, he was a son of the late Roland and Alexina (Martin) Lavoie. Marcel worked as a bartender, and as a custodian at Samuel de Champlain School for 10 years, from which he retired. He was a Life Member of the Buffalo Club, and loved to hunt and play cards and pool. He always enjoyed the company of his grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye. Marcel is survived by his sons, Marcel (Rachel), Richard, and Stephen (Kelly), all of Miramichi; step-son Frank Smith (Aggie) of Saint John; step-daughter Brenda Smith of Saint John; grandchildren Jorja Lavoie, Nikki Daley, Frank Smith Jr., and Shyanne Smith; great grandchildren Johnathan, Eric, Mason, and Destiny; brothers and sisters Tom Lavoie of Minto, Bob Lavoie (Eleanor) of Smith Creek, Fernand Lavoie of Sussex, Rolande "Dolly" Roy of Bathurst, Luke Lavoie (Julia) of Miramichi, Charlie Lavoie of Saint John, Lydia Tracy of Hartland, Lucienne Lloyd of Hartland, Simone Lavoie of Sussex, Leona McKay (Daniel) of Sussex, and Yolanda Lavoie of Hartland; and several nieces and nephews. Marcel was predeceased by a sister, Madeline Lavoie. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.
