Obituary of Maribelle Stephenson Jennings
Maribelle Stephenson Jennings, born June 28, 1920 in Florenceville, NB passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, June 7, 2014. Maribelle was the daughter of the late Rex and Agnes (MacDonald) Stephenson. She is survived by step-sons, Rev. John Jennings and David (Marilyn) Jennings, both of Fredericton; as well as step-daughter, Elizabeth (Wayne) Stackhouse of Petitcodiac. Maribelle is also survived by daughter-in-law, Jacquie Jennings of Toronto; sisters, Annie Simonds of Centerville and Jocelyn Kookie of Michigan; sister-in-law, Eldine Stephen of Florenceville; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; special friends and cousin, Mary McKay of Maine and Emile Arsenault of Saint John. Maribelle was predeceased by her first husband, Ralph Bertlesen and second husband, Dr. Frederick Jennings. She was also predeceased by step-son, Dr. Michael Jennings; sisters, Audrey Crabbe and Freda Towle and brother, Fraser Stephenson. Maribelle was of generous spirit and always cheerful. She was a telegraph operator during World War II and lived many years in Grand Falls. In 1968 she married Dr. Fred Jennings and spent the rest of her life in Saint John. All her life she had a flair for fashion and loved entertaining. In her illness she was greatly comforted by her granddaughter, Kathy Jennings. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at 12:00 Noon. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
