Obituary of William George Bartlett
William G. (Bill) Bartlett passed away quietly surrounded by his family on July 1, 2014. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Jean and his cherished daughters, Jill (Greg) Sinclair, of Rothesay; Dee Dee of Jasper, AB and Nancy of Saint John. He also leaves four dear grandchildren, Caroline (Justin) Price and James Sinclair, Bill (Leah) Matthews and Douglas Matthews and great grandson Taylor Matthews. It is through them that his life will shine. Bill was predeceased by his brother, Gordon (Fran). His parents were Eileen A. (Clark) and Rupert W. Bartlett of Montreal. Born July 22, 1928 and educated in Montreal, he was a Chartered Accountant and had a distinguished career as a senior partner with Deloitte. He was held in high regard by his clients, partners and staff members. Bill strongly believed in personal integrity and fairness which he applied throughout his professional and personal life. Following retirement from his firm, he served on the Board of Directors for Fundy Cable Ltd. A dedicated community volunteer, Bill held senior positions with the Saint John Board of Trade, Fundy Region Development Commission and the Saint John Boys and Girls Club. In addition he helped lead successful financial campaigns for various charitable and community causes. He was past president of the Saint John Rotary Club, Riverside Country Club, the Union Club, the Probus Club and Parr Town Club. He was twice honoured by the Rotary Club with a Paul Harris Fellowship and was a founding and honourary life member of the Boys and Girls Endowment Found, Inc. Bill was a member of St. David's United Church, Rothesay. He enjoyed sports (golf, curling, bowling, fishing), painting, music, poker and the Montreal Canadiens. Bill possessed a myriad of gifts and talents but will forever be remembered for his natural creativity, dry wit, and his affinity for his family and friends. A private cremation service will be held. There will be a Memorial Service and Celebration of Bill’s life at St. David’s United Church, Rothesay, NB, 11: 00 am, on Monday, July 7, 2014. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, E2K 3H6 506-634-7424. If friends so desire, Memorial tributes may be made to the Saint John Boys and Girls Club Endowment Fund Inc. or a charity of the donor's choice.
