Obituary of Vincent Henry Richards
Vincent Henry Richards, husband of the late Lillian Mary (Peters) Richards, passed away peacefully at his residence on May 30, 2014. Born January 19, 1929 in Saint John, he was a son of the late Percy and Violet (Bright) Richards. Prior to his 30 year career with the City of Saint John from which he retired, Vince worked construction, and as a production employee at the Lantic Sugar Refinery. In addition, he spent 3 years in the Canadian Armed Forces and was deployed to Germany from 1953-1956. Following retirement, Vince spent his spare time in his garage, as well as fishing, hunting, tinkering with cars, wood carving, and listening to the blues. His greatest love of all was his family, he will be sadly missed. Vince is survived by his 6 children: Dianne Jones (Charles), Debra Hooper (Kevin), Mark (Cathy), Randy (Ruth Ann), Lisa LaRoque (Philip), and Frank (Chrissy); 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; siblings: Hilda (Bill), Evelyn, Peter (Linda), Patricia (Wally), Raymond (Barb), James (Darlene), William (Phyllis), and Helen; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his wife and parents, Vince was predeceased by his brother, Percy; and his sisters: Janet Wood and Peggy Lockerby. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, 634-7424, with visiting on Sunday, June 1, 2014 and Monday, June 2, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 2 pm from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to Canadian Cancer Society, Alzheimer Society, Toronto Sick Kids Foundation, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
