Obituary of Sally Irene Reed
Sally Irene Reed of Saint John was the wife of the late John P. Reed and her first husband the late Alvé Martin. Sally passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on December 14, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Edith (Primmer) Hodd. Prior to her retirement, Sally was employed at Kimberly Clark. She loved dancing, crafting, knitting, crocheting and gardening. Sally also enjoyed reading and was famous for making lists. Most of all, she treasured spending time with those she loved and had dedicated her life to taking care of their needs. She will always be remembered as a loving, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Sally is survived by her children, Norman Martin (Ardith) of Waterborough, David Martin (Jeanne) of Saint John, Louise Hanlon (Don) of Burton, Danny Martin, Marty Martin (Lisa) and Ron Martin (Janice), all of Saint John, Cindy Lee MacFarland (Fred) of Clifton Royal, Mark Reed (Edna) and Jon Andrew Reed, both of Saint John; siblings, Dorothy Page of Quebec, Margie MacLeod (Scotte) of Alberta, Billy Hodd (Linda) of St. George and Joey Hodd (Dawn) of Alberta; grandchildren, William (Janet), Angela, Matt, Geoff, Mitch, Jake, Tristan, Janelle, Gabe, Wayne (Emily), Heidi (Colin), Nicheal and Selena; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Gabrielle, Natalee and Noah; as well as several cousins. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was also predeceased by her granddaughter, Jennifer; sister-in-law, Kaye; brother-in-law, Ron and nephew, Jimmy. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, February 4, from 7-9 PM and Wednesday, February 5, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, February 6, 2014, at 12:00 Noon. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances made to the SJRH Dialysis Unit c/o the SJRH Foundation or to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
