Obituary of John F. Hawkins
With heavy hearts, the family of John Hawkins, husband of Deborah "Debbie" (Kantor) Hawkins, announce his unexpected passing on July 10, 2014 at his residence. Born September 27, 1939 in Bethel, NB , he was a son of the late Helen (Farrar) and Franklin Hawkins. John worked at SMT and Acadian Lines for 36 years- a career that he thoroughly enjoyed. He especially loved doing seniors’ tours and being a driver for the Saint John Flames. He spent his spare time fishing, playing hockey, cheering for Toronto Maple Leafs, boating and letting his grandchildren drive his boat, car racing, and time with his family. Besides his loving wife, John is survived by his children: John Hawkins, Gillian McNemer (Mike), Jennifer St. Coeur (Wayne), and Megan Kantor; grandchildren: Jessica Hawkins, Mary Hawkins, William Hawkins, Sarah Sura, Charlie McNemer, Jacob McNemer, Jeremiah St. Coeur, Caitlin St. Coeur, and Jennica St. Coeur; siblings: Victor Hawkins (Violet), Arthur Hawkins (Joan), Rose McLellan, and Frank Hawkins (Sandy); and several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Betty Powers. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, 634-7424, with visiting on Monday, July 14, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 10 am from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family. Please place online condolences and remembrances at www.brenansfh.com.
