Obituary of Norma Mary Ryan
Norma Ryan of Public Landing, wife of the late Lawrence E. Ryan, passed away at Bobby’s Hospice on Sunday, May 10, 2015. Born August 3, 1931 in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Rosalie (Gould) Hachey. Prior to her retirement, Norma worked as a Medical Secretary for the old General Hospital and for the late Dr. Cornelis. Norma is survived by her daughter, Cathy McHugh (Thomas) of Quispamsis; sons: David Ryan (Debbie) of Grand Lake, Danny Ryan (Catherine "Kelly" McLaughlin) of Saint John, and Peter Ryan of Public Landing; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and her brother, Medric. Besides her parents and her husband, Norma was predeceased by her sister, Eileen; and her brothers: Joseph, James, Patrick, and Donald. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). At the family’s request, there will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Augustine’s Church, Grand Bay-Westfield, on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 10 am with the reception following in the parish hall. Interment will take place in St. Augustine’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Alzheimer Society, Bobby’s Hospice, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
