It is with great sadness that the family of Marie Alchorn, partner to Bryce Beyea, announces her passing, which occurred on Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on March 9, 1947 in Saint John, NB she was a daughter of the late John and Faye (Lyons) Porter. Marie was a vibrant, beautiful woman who made an impression on everyone she met, especially her loving partner, Bryce. She had a large family that she loved and respected deeply. Marie was a talented artist, with a great passion for painting and art. She loved reading, music, gardening, shopping, being near the ocean, and travelling. She will be missed by her children, Sean Alchorn (Linda) and Jennifer Alchorn (Jim); grandchildren, Sean Jr., Kyle, Samantha, Kara and Izzy; a great grandson, Kale; stepchildren, Stuart and Catherine Beyea; her siblings, John Porter, Dale Porter (Brenda), Peggy Watson (Ernie), Elaine Thompson (Lee), Susan Collett (Peter) and Lori Kelly (Tim); as well as many nieces, nephews and friends and extended relatives. In addition to her parents, Marie was predeceased by her husband, Murray Alchorn, and her sister, Noreen Porter. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lisa Sutherland for her years of compassion and empathy. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A celebration of Marie’s life will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 2:00 pm from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. A private family interment will take place at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances made to Canadian Cancer Society, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Luxor Shriners would be appreciated by the family. Marie would also take comfort in knowing that everyone would take the opportunity to hug your loved ones.
