Obituary of Colleen Foster Britton
The death of Colleen Britton of the Loch Lomond Village, beloved wife of the late Norman E. Britton occurred peacefully at her residence on Friday, July 31, 2015. Born on July 2, 1924 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Harry W. and Lila L. (Foster) Heans. Colleen always took great comfort in her faith and was a devoted member of St. John’s (Stone) Church, where she served on the Chancel Guild. She was a former member of the Westfield Golf & Country Club, YMYW Ladies Auxiliary, Carleton Curling Club, Women’s Committee of the Saint John Symphony Orchestra Association, IODE and also had enjoyed volunteering with Meals on Wheels. Colleen is survived by her sons, Douglas W. Britton (Pam) of Quispamsis and Andrew "Andy" Britton of Saint John; grandchildren, Terry Britton (Stacey), Sean Britton, Kati Marti, Kelly Decourcey and Ryan Decourcey; great-grandchildren, Beau and Capri Hatfield; as well as daughter-in-law, Dorothy Britton of Saint John. Besides her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her brothers, H. "Ward" and R. "Patt" Heans. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from St. John’s (Stone) Church, 87 Carleton Street, Saint John on Thursday, August 6, 2015, at 10:00 AM. A private family interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
