Obituary of Ivor L. Jefferies
The death of Ivor L. Jefferies of Saint John, NB and recently of Moncton, NB occurred on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at the Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home. Born in Wellington, Somerset, England in 1920, he was the youngest son of the late Joseph Harry and Elizabeth (Perry) Jefferies. He was predeceased, in March 2009, by his wife of 64 years, Frances Elizabeth (Tooker) Jefferies and earlier, by brothers Wilfred, Gilbert and Edgar. Ivor was a veteran of World War II, he served in the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm from 1939 to 1945 as a Petty Officer Telegraphist Air Gunner. Prior to retiring in 1983 he worked several decades for Irving Oil in Saint John, NB. Ivor is survived by his son John Michael and his wife Jo-Ann (Ferguson) Jefferies of Riverview, NB; granddaughter Joanna Elizabeth Mattatall and her husband Nicholas Burns Mattatall of Moncton, NB; two great grandchildren, Eli Jefferies Mattatall and Fiona Allison Mattatall; two nieces and a nephew. Arrangements are under the direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John(634-7424). At Ivor’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will take place in Mountain Cemetery, Yarmouth, NS at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Friends of Moncton Hospital Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice.
