Obituary of Bertha Maude Parsons
Bertha Maude Parsons passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at her daughter’s residence in Saint John, who was her main caregiver along with special caregiver, Pao-Lien Carpenter. The Rev’d Ingalls was by her side. Born in Chimney Cove, Newfoundland on October 9, 1911, she was the daughter of the late James Henry and Alice Jane Wells. She was the wife of the late Thomas Warren Lewis Parsons. Bertha is survived by a sister, Georgina Curtis and brother, William Wells both of Newfoundland. She leaves to mourn three daughters, Elizabeth Louise "Betty Lou" Parsons of Saint John, Judith Maude Lacasse (Claude) of Alliston, Ontario and Dianne Marie Cotton (Alan) of Bathurst. Bertha had 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by daughter, Martha Jane Parker and sons, Charles Henry Parsons and Thomas Isaac Parsons. Mom was an active member of Trinity Anglican Church. She belonged to the needlework society and ACW Trinity (quilting) and also Stella Maris quilting group. Mom made a great hobby of quilting and rug hooking. Bertha worked for 20 years at the General Hospital as a Ward Clerk. After retirement, she worked at the Regional, supplying until she was 71. Although there will be no visitation time, relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service, which will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2013, at 11:00 AM from Trinity Anglican Church, 115 Charlotte Street. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). For those who wish, remembrances made to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
