Obituary of Clifford G. Payne
Payne, Clifford G. The death of Clifford G. Payne, husband of the late Myrtle Christina (Fillmore) Payne, occurred at the Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing, on January 13, 2008. Born in Ottawa, ON, he was the son of the late Thomas and Charlotte (Dinage) Payne. He served with the Royal Canadian Navy during WW II. He was employed in upholstering and furniture manufacturing being self-employed for many years. He was a member of St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Gondola Point. He was a member of Bowlmore Seniors Bowling League, Wdnesday Night Mixed League, Starlight Promenaders and the Hampton Hoedowners. Surviving are his step-children; David, Dwight and Roger Sleigh, Nancy Hall and Sandra O’Connell, their families and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Gordon, George and Leonard and sisters Florence and Mabel. Following cremation at Brenans Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), the family will hold a memorial service followed by interment at Beachwood Cemetery, in Ottawa, ON, at a later date. Remembrances to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
