Obituary of Dorothy Alice MacFarlane
The death of Dorothy Alice MacFarlane of Brookfield, NS, formerly of Saint John, NB, wife of the late Horace “Buster” MacFarlane, occurred on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, NS. Born in Saint John, NB on August 25, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Sarah (Fidler) Weaver. Dorothy was a member of St. Luke’s Church and the ACW, the Ladies Hospital Auxiliary and the Saint John Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star; having moved to Brookfield in 2004 to be with her son and his family she became active with the Knox Church, All Around the Circle Seniors and the Elm Lodge OES in Upper Stewiacke. Survived by her sons, H. Herbert (Elizabeth) MacFarlane of Brookfield, NS and Terrance MacFarlane or McGrath Lake, NS; one brother, Ronald W. Weaver of Quebec; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Horace H. MacFarlane; three brothers: Leslie O., George E. and John A. Weaver; two sisters: Irene Weaver and Helen S. Burton. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Sunday, October 7, 2007 from 12 noon until the time of the service at 2 pm from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will be on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at 10 am in Greenwood Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to St. Luke’s Church or any charity of choice.
