Obituary of Gladys Cecilia McCormick
McCormick, Gladys Cecilia … Gladys McCormick (nee Gauthier) passed away peacefully on Monday, July 9, 2007, at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a long struggle with cancer, she was in her 85th year. Born in Saint John, NB, she was a daughter of the late, Alexander and Maryann Gauthier. She is survived by her sons; Kevin, John and Paul, two brothers; George and Gerard, her grandson, Reilly and her first cousin and close friend, Rev. Charles Goakery C.S.s.R., a priest in the Redemptorist Order working in Newfoundland. Besides her parents, Gladys was predeceased by her husband, Brien, her son, Brien Charles Jr., two brothers; Merlin and Frankie and one sister, Dora. Gladys, along with her husband, was a member of the Royal Kennebecasis Yacht Club of which she once held the distinction of being “Miss Yacht Club.” She was also a member of the Catholic Women’s League of St. Peter’s Parish. An accomplished artist, she enjoyed many aspects of painting, sculpturing and fashion design, an overflow of her modeling career in Montreal and with Calps in Saint John. A lady of grace and poise, she will be fondly remembered and missed by many. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday from 2 … 4 and 7 … 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Peter’s Church, Clarendon Street, Saint John on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at 10:00am. Remembrances may be made to the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation, Palliative Care Unit.
