Obituary of Odessa Phyllis Geldart
Geldart, Odessa Phyllis … Surrounded by her family, Odessa Geldart, wife of the late John Geldart, passed away peacefully at her residence in Rothesay, on February 2, 2008. She was born on October 20, 1924 in Coles Island, NB and was a daughter of the late Guy and Gertrude (Crandale) Prosser. Odessa primarily was a loving wife, mother and nanny but found the time to work as a Nurse’s Aid for the Canadian Red Cross. She was an active member of Forest Hills Baptist Church and the Women’s Missionary Society. Odessa loved the church almost as much as her family. She was well known for her beautiful quilts, and her crocheting and knitting ability. She is survived by her daughter: Brenda Moore (Weldon) of Burton, NB; two sons: Norval Yorston and Gordon Geldart (Jean) both of Rothesay, NB; eight grandchildren: Jaska, Elizabeth, Timothy, Nancy, Cindy, David, Joseph and Tina; 11 great grandchildren including her new name’s sake Baby Odessa Elizabeth and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB 634-7424 with visitation on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 from Forest Hills Baptist Church at 1 pm. Interment in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who will donations may be made the Forest Hills Baptist Church Memorial Fund or the charity of the donor’s choice.
