Obituary of Joanne Phyllis Shillington
The death of Joanne Phyllis Shillington of 125 Coldbrook Crescent, Saint John, wife of the late Allison Wesley Shillington, occurred on Friday, November 2, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on February 6, 1952, she was the daughter of Myrna (Jackson) Melvin of Moncton and the late Harold Melvin. Joanne was an active member of First United Pentecostal Church and was a member of the choir for 13 years. She enjoyed her ministry of visiting the sick and shut ins at hospitals, nursing homes and CentraCare. Besides her mother, Myrna (Gordon McNulty), she is survived by one son, Scott Shillington (Cheryl) of Grand Bay-Westfield, four brothers, Brian Melvin (Barb) of Beaver Harbour, Danny Melvin of Moncton, Hal Melvin of Saint John and Christopher Melvin (Brenda) of Prince of Wales, one sister, Cathy Melvin of Moncton, two grandchildren, Samantha and Nicholas Shillington, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Gary Melvin. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at the First United Pentecostal Church, Mark Drive, Saint John on Monday, November 5, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Following cremation, a private family interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the First United Pentecostal Church Building Fund would be appreciated.
