Obituary of Harold Eugene Stoddard

Stoddard, Harold Eugene “Gene” … It is with great sadness that the Stoddard family announce the passing of Harold Eugene “Gene” Stoddard, 84, of Grand Bay … Westfield, NB, at the Saint John Regional Hospital on May 7, 2007. Born in Beaufort, NB, he was the son of the late Paul and Jennie (Scovil) Stoddard. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 36 years, Winona Louise (Cole); his sister, Claire Olsen; his children, step-children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Gene was employed by Irving Pulp and Paper in 1954 and later joined Rothesay Paper, where he was Supervisor, until his retirement in 1987. Gene and his wife enjoyed camping, fishing, cross country skiing and communing with nature. Gene is predeceased by his parents; two brothers: Paul and Gilbert; sister, Wanda Breneol; three children: Gary, Michael and Sheila; two grandchildren: Timothy Likely and Matthew Anderson. Gene’s energy, love for family and friends and most of all his love for God will be remembered by all who knew him. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424. At the family’s request there will not be any visitation. A Memorial service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Thursday, May 10, 2007 at 2:15 pm. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
