Obituary of Lucy M. Hodgin
The death of Lucy Maude Hodgin of Waterloo Street, Saint John, occurred peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Bloomfield Ridge on May 3, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Richard Nelson and Georgie Gladys (DeRoss) Hodgin. Lucy worked at Crosby Molasses for many years before her retirement. She enjoyed knitting, doing housework and spending time with family and friends. She will be sadly missed. She is survived by one son, David Hodgin and his wife Shirley of Saint John, five brothers, Charles Hodgin of Darlings Island, Kenneth Hodgin of Saint John, Harold “Johnny” Hodgin of Hampton, Richard Hodgin of McBride, BC and Donald Hodgin of Geary, NB, two sisters, Florence Burke of Milford, CT and Audrey Watkins of Abbotsford, BC, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, George and William Hodgin and one sister, Marion Williston. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place at Hampton Rural Cemetery in the spring. Remembrances to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Shriner’s Hospital or Hampton Rural Cemetery would be appreciated.
