Obituary of Gordon Reid Pitt
The death of Gordon Pitt occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, October 21, 2012 after a brief illness. He was born on May 24, 1941 in Woodstock to the late G. Ralph and Emily (Johnston) Pitt. Gordon worked many jobs during his life; he spent a lot of his career as a mechanic. He was a drag car enthusiast; building and racing cars in the Eastern United States and Atlantic Canada. Gordon was a strong supporter of the Saint John Sea Dogs. He is survived by his sisters: Betty Button (Albert) and Carolyn James both of Saint John; close friend, Wayne Bennett (Helena) of Saint John; several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Gordon is also survived by his dogs: Sandy and Blue. Besides his parents, Gordon was predeceased by his sister, June Stairs. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date. For those who wish remembrances to the CNIB or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
