Obituary of Virginia N. Emmerson
The passing of Virginia (Ginny) N. Emmerson of Saint John, N.B., wife of the late Stanley W. Emmerson occurred on June 5, 2012 at Shannex Nursing Home, Fredericton N.B. Born on June 16, 1921 in Grand Manan, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Charles (Syd) and Dora Bishop. Ginny is survived by her two sons David Emmerson (Gail) of Fredericton N.B., Peter Emmerson (Debbie) of Toronto ON; her daughter Jane Hubbard (David) of New Maryland N.B.; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Emmerson, Melissa Wheaton (Randy), Heather Emmerson, Scott Emmerson, Matthew Hubbard, Sarah Hubbard, Andrew Hubbard and Christina Hubbard; great grandson Caden Hubbard; and one sister Betty Wilson of Grand Manan N.B.; several nieces and nephews. Ginny was a wonderful mother who showed her gift of hospitality by entertaining family and friends in her home with delicious meals. Her interests includedclassical music,gardening, needlework, playing bridge, hosting and attending bible study. Ginny was an avid golfer and long time member of the Westfield Golf and Country Club. She was a recipient of the N.B. Senior Ladies Golf Championship. Ginny started her career as a secretary working for the Government of Canada Treasury Office in 1940 and in later years was a great support to her husband Stan in his Architectural Firm. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the caregivers at York Care Centre and Shannex Nursing Home (Thomas Hall). The support, prayers and visits from her many special friends was greatly appreciated. Visitation will take place at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John N.B. (634-7424) on Thursday, June 7, 2012 from 2:00 -5:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 8, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 668 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, N.B. followed by a reception. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
