Obituary of Doreen Helen Weaver
After a brief illness, surrounded by her family the death of Doreen Weaver, wife of Douglas Weaver occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, August 21, 2012. She was born on June 7, 1940 in Saint John to the late Kenneth and Doris (McGrath) Rackley. Before her retirement, Doreen worked for over 30 years for the Federal Government in the Public Works and Income Security Divisions. She was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family. Doreen was a past-member of the Ladies Evening Golf at the Hampton Golf Club and die-hard Toronto Blue Jays fan. Doreen loved spending time with her husband Doug; hunting, fishing, boating and in their youth clearing many a dance floor! Besides her husband of 50 years, Doug; Doreen is survived by her children: Dwaine (Cindy) of Saint John and Tracey Barsalou (David) of Quispamsis; grandchildren: Jeffrey, Ryan, Scott, Amanda, Sean and Jill; great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Hayley, Xander, and Robbie; siblings: Norma Taylor (Kevin) of Quispamsis and Jack Rackley of Saint John; step-mother, Ina Rackley and her children: Jean and Laurie and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and sister-in-law, Brenda Rackley. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Wednesday from 7-9 pm and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 10:00 am. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers remembrances to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. A special thank you to Palliative Care and Dr. Archer who gave us extra time with Mom that we would not have had otherwise.
