Obituary of Helen Muriel Hope

It is with great sadness, while surrounded by her family that Helen Hope (nee McKee) peacefully passed away in her 91st year at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, August 25, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur Hope. She was born on May 26, 1921 in Saint John. Helen lived for a time in the Golden Grove Road area and spent a portion of her youth in Moncton. She and Art returned to Golden Grove Road and spent many happy years raising animals on their hobby farm and watching their family grow. Throughout the years Helen’s hobbies included crocheting, playing the accordion, the organ and doting on her pets. She also loved music and dancing. Helen spent the last three years at Rocmaura Nursing Home where she received excellent care during her stay. She will be sadly missed by her children: Claudia Walker, James (Susan), and Helen Boyle (Terrance) all of Saint John; five grandchildren: Kevin Walker, Kathy Walker (wife of the late Jim Walker), Jennifer Smith (Jonathan), Michael Hope, Heather Boyle-Richard (Troy), Karen Boyle-MacDonald (John); great-grandchildren: Alex and Devon Richard and Hannah and Owen MacDonald and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Helen was predeceased by her son-in-law Arnold Walker; grandson, Jim Walker; brothers: James and William (Bill); sisters: Clementine and Jennie. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Helen’s family would like to thank the staff of Rocmaura Nursing Home, 5CS and the Palliative Care Unit at the SJRH for the exceptional care they provided. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 12 noon. A private family interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Rocmaura (Alzheimer’s Unit), Palliative Care (SJRH) or the SPCA/Animal Rescue League would be appreciated by the family.
