Obituary of Joan Myrtle Henderson
It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Myrtle Henderson announce her unexpected death after a brief illness on Saturday, October 6, 2012. She was born in Saint John, NB on June 26, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Isabella (Taylor) Buckley. She was predeceased by her husband, John Frederick Henderson. She worked for many years for the City of Saint John and was a life long member of Grace Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed travelling, her craft work, reading, gardening and playing cards with her friends and club group at Christina Court and retired ladies of City Hall lunch group. She and John enjoyed their many years together summering at Stewarton with family, grandchildren and friends. Joan is survived by her three daughters: Kimberly Bursey (David) and Meredith Henderson both of Saint John, and Hillary O’Connor (Murray) of Sussex; brother, Delbert Buckley (Shirley); six grandchildren: Erin Bursey, John Bursey, Cameron Ough, Lauchlan Ough, Ryan O’Connor (Sabrina) and Tara Ness (Andrew); four great-grandchildren, Hillary, Morgan, Drew and Ryan Jean; nephew, Loran Buckley (Heather) and several cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, parents and infant daughter. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424), with visiting on Monday, October 8, 2012 from 4:00 - 7:30 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church, 101 Coburg Street on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 11:00 am. A reception will follow at the church hall. Interment will take place at Bayview Cemetery, Hatfield’s Point, NB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church, Saint John Food Banks, Palliative Care Unit (SJRH), or to charity of donor’s choice. A special thank you to Doctors and Staff of 3CN and 3BN for the exceptional care that Joan received during her stay.
