Obituary of Louis Michael
Louis Michael passed away on May 8, 2012 in Saint John, NB, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 8, 1933 in St. Spiradon Greece, he was a son of the late John and Garifalea Bountalas. From a young age, Louis had a great interest in tailoring suits and sewing, which would become his passion. In 1958 he moved to Saint John from Greece and in 1960 he opened Michael’s Dry Cleaning and Tailoring with his brothers. In 1967 he opened Betty Brite Cleaners with his brothers and in 1971 they opened One Hour Martinizing on Waterloo Street. Louis had a great passion for his customers and believed in providing great service to them. He was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather who had a great sense of humour and a great wit. He is survived by his wife Diamando, his daughters, Litsa (George) Georgoudis, Rothesay; Dina (Theodore) Michael, Ottawa; Liana Michael, Saint John; grandchildren, Dimitri, Sophia, George, Louis and Gregory; brothers, Jim Bountalas, Saint John; Nick Michael, Toronto; Dino Michael, Greece; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Michael Bountalas and sister, Athena Podiotis. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home. 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 33 Dorchester Street, Saint John on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to Romero House, Bobby’s Hospice, Pro Kids or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Saint John Regional Hospital Dialysis Unit. The Doctors, Nurses, Staff and Pharmacy all provided wonderful care to our husband and father. A special thank you to Dr. Laurel Comeau.
