Obituary of Joseph Whittington Morrison
The death of Rowley Morrison occurred Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at his residence in Ridgewood Veterans Wing. Born at Saint John on June 22, 1917, he was a son of the late Christopher G. and Sarah W. (Rowley) Morrison. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. A veteran of World War II, Rowley served in the Navy as a Petty Officer. After the war, he worked as a purser for CP Railway and CP Express for over 45 years until his retirement. Rowley is survived by sisters-in-law: Barbara Morrison of Saint John and Ruby Morrison of USA; nieces: Karen Belzil (Eugene), Marianne Haines (Peter) both of Saint John; Sandra Faires (Gerald), Christine Wildhaber (Dale), Linda Randolph (Robert), and Sarah Batchell (Mitch) all of the USA; nieces-in-law, Linda Morrison of Saint John and Sandi Morrison of USA; as well as several cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Morrison; brothers, Graham and Ross; and nephews, Christopher Morrison and Lester Morrison. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 12 noon. A reception will be held at Brenan’s Reception Centre immediately following the service, followed by interment in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Alzheimer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
