Obituary of Gregory Robert Garnett
Gregory Robert Garnett of Saint John, husband of Elsie G. (Burger) Garnett, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Saint John on March 2, 1924, he was a son of the late Robert and Mamie (Johnson) Garnett. Gregory was formerly employed with the City of Saint John, and was a charter member of Local 1151 of the International Painters and Allied Trades. In his spare time, Gregory loved fishing, especially for trout. In addition to his wife of 65 years, Gregory is survived by a daughter Suzanne Hawke (Ted), and by a son Robert Garnett; two grandchildren, Bill Hawke (Jennifer) and Lisa Hawke; a great grandson, Mason; siblings Peter Garnett, Barbara Campbell, and Leslie Garnett; and by several nieces and nephews. Gregory came from a large family, and was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Although there will be no visitation, relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Liturgy of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 12:00 Noon from Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
