Obituary of Kathleen Alberta Steeves
Steeves, Kathleen "Kay" Alberta – passed away June 24, 2012 in Saint John. Born on October 6, 1929 she was a daughter of the late Harold and Hazel Whelpley. Kay had many enjoyments such as camping, bowling, playing cards as well as listening to country music and dancing. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her children, Clarence Steeves, Grand Bay-Westfield; Deborah (James) Long, Public Landing; Mary (David) Gonong, Quispamsis; Helen (Mike) Horgan, Saint John; grandchildren, Ken Steeves, Ben Hovey, Russell Long, Diane Long, Beth Brown, Matthew Horgan, Shelly Horgan, Michelle Horgan, Holly Steeves and Kevin Steeves; great grandchildren Liam, Gavin, Lyra, Maiya, Alyssa and Isabelle; sisters, Helen (Dean) McGowan; Mary Steel; Ida (John) Sherwood; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth "Ken" Steeves (August 7, 2011); daughter, Diane Wickens; son Harold Steeves; brothers, Clarence Whelpley and Harold Whelpley; sister, Florence Flowers. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Chapel on Thursday, June 28, at 12 noon. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Kidney Foundation or to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
