Obituary of Glendon Burton Fairweather

The unexpected passing of Glen Fairweather of Hillcrest Village, husband of the late Ruth (Blois) Fairweather occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, November 29, 2012. He was born on October 7, 1922 in Saint John to the late Paxton and Ada (Cook) Fairweather. Glen served overseas in World War II with the Fifth Armoured Division. After the war, he worked at Fairweather’s Garage retiring as service manager. Glen also worked at Port City Motors as service manager. He was a member of St. John Baptist (Mission Church) St. Clement. Glen was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather; the true definition of a family man Glen is survived by one daughter, Gail Fogarty; three grandchildren, Kimberly (Giuliano) DeBortoli, James (Barb Savoie) Wood and Craig (Donna) Wood; six great-grandchildren, Giuliano, Samantha, and Sydney DeBortoli, Jonathan, Katelyn and Dylan Wood; special friend, Vida Robinson; three sisters: Doreen Ducey, and Ruth Shaw, and Elsie Wayne (Richard) and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife of over 61 years, Ruth and his parents; Glen was predeceased by one son, Dana Fairweather; one daughter, Glenna Fairweather; four brothers: Ralph, Ken, Raymond and Lee and two sons-in-law: Charlie Fogarty and Gordie Wood. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute to a Veteran’s Service will be held during visiting, Monday at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at St. John Baptist (Mission Church) St. Clement on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish remembrances to the Mission Church or Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
