Obituary of Clara Veronica Stephen

The family of Clara Veronica Stephen (RN) are deeply saddened to announce her passing on August 24, 2012 at the home of her daughter, Suzanne. Clara was the wife of the late John Haykel Stephen. Born in Southfield, NB on December 28, 1923 she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Margaret Ann (Curran) McLaughlin. Clara graduated from Mount Carmel Academy and St. Joseph’s School of Nursing. After many years of nursing she joined her husband at Service Coin Ltd. Clara had great faith and loved nature, birds and flowers. She is survived by her children, Helen (Thomas) French of Saint John; John "Jack" (Debra) of Quispamsis; Suzanne (Terry) Buckley of Quispamsis and Sarkes "Cy" of Quispamsis; six grandchildren, Jeffrey (Brigitte), Tiffaney, Stephanie, Helen E., Clara and John; three great-grandchildren, Amélie, Médéric and Geneviève; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by three sister-in-laws, Elizabeth (Betty) McLaughlin, Margaret McLaughlin and Noreen Stephen. Clara was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband, John, her parents, brothers, Felix, Henry, Warren, Maurice, Hazen, Joseph, David and Anthony, sisters, Mary, Kathleen, Helen and Rose. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Clara’s caregiver Mary Rose for her care and compassion. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Sunday, August 26, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Sacred Heart Parish, Norton, NB on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 11:00 am. Interment in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to Dr. David Stephen Memorial Foundation or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
