Obituary of Constance Jean McVicar
Constance Jean McVicar of Saint John passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 25, 2013 at her home. Connie was born on August 23, 1955, and worked at Rocmaura Nursing Home until her health declined. In her youth, Connie was an award winning singer, and in her later years enjoyed watching the Waltons, and also enjoyed the company of her dog, Maxi. She was a nurturing mother and grandmother, who always put her family first. Connie is survived by her mother, Jean Leavitt (Clem) of Saint John; her children, Terrence McVicar (Alisha McGarrigle) of St. George, Derek McVicar of Saint John, Kerri McVicar of Toronto, and Amanda McVicar of Saint John; grandchildren Jamal, Rasheed, Jabreel, Zadajah, Amina, Fatimah, Khadeejah, Dustin, Kaitlin, Ayanna, Tristan, and Dawson; her best friend, Ann Cooke of Back Bay; siblings Vance (Etta), Gerald, John (Brenda), Burton, Allison, Darren, Violet, Sally, Gail (Aimy), Stacy, Eileen (Terry), Kelly, and Judy; and several nieces and nephews. Connie was predeceased by her beloved grandson, Darian; and by siblings Rufus, Arnold Jr., Wendal, Janice, Lawrence, and David. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday, February 28, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Visitation will then take place at the Seaview Gospel Church, 195 Back Bay Loop, on Friday from 10 AM until the service time at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in the St. George Rural Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances to the Lung Association would be appreciated by the family.
