Obituary of Donald George Parsons
Parsons, Donald George- 79, of Halifax, passed away November 25, 2012, in Saint John, NB., surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Donald was a son of John and Violet (Sparks) Parsons (of Halifax). He is survived by his son, Stephen (Jo-Anne); daughter, Cynthia (Hans); grandchildren, Max and Mari; siblings, Amne, Ray (Dorothy), June (Arnold), Joan, Eva (Melvin), David; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary; brother, Eric; brother-in-law, Frank and sister in law, Marileen. Donald followed in the footsteps of his father, learning the carpentry trade and developing his own successful roofing, later passing this on to his son with whom he worked in partnership for over 20 years. He carried out his work with a spirit of integrity, keen interest in his customers and unfailing attention to detail. His greatest loves were his family, to whom he was devoted, and times spent working and travelling together. We will forever be grateful for his watchful eye, generosity of spirit and genuine curiosity. He gifts were numerous, yet he had little idea of how many lives he touched in a warm and caring way. Our heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Robyn MacFarlane, staff of 11N, VG Site, QEII, and staff of the Palliative Care Unit, Saint John Regional Hospital, for their gentle, compassionate care. Family service will be held privately. Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association of the Canadian Cancer Society. On-line condolences may be received at: www.BrenansFH.com
