Obituary of Earl Robert Dunphy
Earl Robert Dunphy of Saint John passed away on Monday, April 09, 2012 at home. Born in Saint John he was a son of the late Vernon Judson and Sadie Isabell (Johnstone) Dunphy. Earl served on active duty with the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II, crossing the Atlantic Ocean on convoy duty. During that time his family received notice that he was "missing in action and presumed dead". They were relieved and grateful to discover it was a mistake. An active member of his church, Earl belonged to Central Baptist Church and then Edith Avenue. He was Past Deacon. Earl is survived by his wife, Jean (nee Cameron); children, Beth (Russ) Gunter, Quispamsis; Lois (David) Rickard, Grand Bay; Earl (Karen), Red Head; David (Heather) Toronto; step-children, Pamela (Bill) Allen, Saint John; Candace (Mike) Craib, Riverview; Larry Dean, Kingston Peninsula; Arthur Dean, Kingston, ON; Christopher (Laverne) Dean, Quispamsis; grandchildren, Alleyne, Robyn, Isaac (Melissa), Miles, Graeme and Sheena; step-grand children, William (Lisa) and Kelly Craib; 10 step-great grandchildren; He was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Susie Davidson; brothers, Ronald, Laurence and Malcolm; sister, Hazel Thompson. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, April 11, 2-4, and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
