Obituary of Anna Louise McAleese
Anna Louise McAleese, formerly of Lower Millstream, wife of the late Robert McAleese, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by her family. Born in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland on February 13, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Catherine Elizabeth (Follis) Howe. Anna immigrated to Canada with her family as a young girl, and worked at the Sussex Health Centre until her retirement. She was a member of the Church of the Ascension, Apohaqui, where she was active in the Anglican Church Women. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Norton Royal Canadian Legion, and in her spare time enjoyed spending time with her family and baking. Anna is survived by her children, Maureen Crothers (Bob Folkins), Patricia Hayes (Elwyn), Shawney Ross (Peter), and Robert McAleese (Doreen) all of Quispamsis; grandchildren Kevin Crothers (Stacie), Kimberly Gorman (Preston), Stacey Hayes, Shannon Hayes (Dave Dawe), Elwyn Hayes (Amy), Joel Ross, Alexandra Ross (Ian Brenton), Shawn McAleese, and Celia McAleese; great grandchildren Jacob Hayes, Hudson and Cullen Hayes, Allison, Taylor, and Benjamin Gorman, and Meghan Crothers; sisters Lena Young of Saskatchewan, Rachel Herrmann of Vancouver, and Violet Wright of Halifax; a brother, John Stuart of Quispamsis; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers William, Alexander, Thomas, Reginald, and Ivan Howe; and sisters Kathleen Howe and Sara Hickey. Although there will be no visitation time, relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service, which will be held on Monday, May 27, 2013 at 2:00 PM from the Church of the Ascension, 2981 Route 121, Apohaqui. Interment will take place in the Lester Cemetery, Lower Millstream. For those who wish remembrances to the Church of the Ascension, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
