Obituary of James H. Williams
It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of James Harold "Sonny" Williams, which occurred on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on August 11, 1929, he was the son of the late Harold and Inez (Boyd) Williams. Sonny worked as a long haul truck driver and as a Commissionaire, but in later years indulged his love of cars by helping with his son’s car sales business. He enjoyed playing cards, and was a long time member of St. Pius X Parish, a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Helene (Comeau) Williams; his children Margaret Anne Williams of Saint John, Elizabeth "Betsy" Walsh (Troy) of Dawson Creek, BC, Helene Muir (Donald) of Bloomfield, Alan Williams (Karen) of Saint John, and Patricia Williams of Fredericton; grandchildren Todd, Josh (Candace), Jim, Matthew, and George; great grandchildren Addyson and Hunter; sisters Audrey Barnes of Ottawa and Mary Jean Ritchie of Hampton; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Sonny was predeceased by his daughter, Gwen; his son, Jamie; his sister, Gladys Blackwell; and by brothers-in-law Horace Blackwell, J. K. Barnes, and Stephen Ritchie. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Church, 316 Somerset Street, Saint John, on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 10:00 am. Interment will take place in Old Cedar Hill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences and remembrances may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com.
