Obituary of John Richard Philippe
John Philippe of Saint John, husband of Lynn (MacArthur) Philippe, passed away on January 23, 2013, at Bobby’s Hospice. Born in North Bay, Ontario on November 3rd, 1969, he was a son of Mary (Davis) and the late Roland Philippe. John worked as a Policy Analyst for WorksafeNB, and was a member of St. James the Less Church. John is survived by his wife Lynn, their son, Davis, his mother, Mary Philippe (Saint John NB), brother Michael Phillipe (Barry, Ont.), and his in-laws Forrest and Jean MacArthur (Alma, NB), as well as several aunts and uncles. John was pre-deceased by his father, Roland Philippe (North Bay, Ont) John enjoyed playing tennis and was a member of the Saint John District Tennis Association. He watched every "open" and could often be heard citing the most recent stats that he had committed to memory. Off season (and in between meals, his other passion) , John was a very avid writer. Economics and his personal relationship with God were two of his favorite topics to write about. He shared many of his thoughts about his journey with brain cancer on his blog: http://4faithworks.wordpress.com/2012/07/ On July 5th, 2007 Lynn gave birth to their son Davis and John proudly dedicated himself to being a great father. He was kind, compassionate, and sensitive to Davis’s every need. He really enjoyed reading with Davis and of course teaching him superior math skills. And like any good father he knew the value of a great play fight! Lynn and John were married in September 2006 and from the day they met, the two were inseparable. They were best friends; loved each other unconditionally; and looked forward to just spending time together. Both Lynn and John loved travelling, especially to their favorite spot – Camden, Maine. Lynn will miss her "Honey". John’s family will receive friends at St. James the Less Church, 1760 Rothesay Road, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Funeral Service will be held from the Church on Monday at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Lynn Philippe Education Fund (In Trust), which can be paid at any Scotia Bank, or mailed to 44 Sigma Street, Saint John, E2J 0B3. The funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
