Obituary of Deborah Ann Chapman
The death of Deborah Ann Chapman occurred at The Church of St. John & St. Stephen Home on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. She is survived by several cousins. Born in Campbellton, NB, she was the only child of the late Isabel (MacNeill) and Reginald Chapman. Deborah attended UNB (Fredericton), graduated from the New Brunswick School of Medical Technology, and continued studying throughout her professional career, keeping up to date with all the latest technology by attending seminars throughout the province and Canada. She was employed in the Chemistry Laboratory of the Provincial Laboratory, which later became part of the Saint John Regional Hospital. Deborah was an active member of the Canadian Society of Laboratory Medical Technologists, serving on the Executive of both the local academy and the provincial level. While devoted to her career path, Debbie always found time for her many friends and outside activities. She was an avid curler as a member of St. Andrew’s Curling Club, and later at the Thistle-St. Andrew’s Club. A Girl Guide in her youth in Dalhousie, she continued Guiding in Saint John as a Lieutenant at St. Luke’s Church with the 34th IODE Saint John Company and was active in the Fundy Division of the Girl Guides of Canada and the Trefoil Guild. Deborah was a stalwart worker at the Saint John Food Bank, a board member and volunteer at the Church of St. John & St. Stephen Nursing Home, and a member of the congregation at Grace Presbyterian Church. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 12:00 Noon from Grace Presbyterian Church, 101 Coburg Street, Saint John, followed by a reception at the Union Club (Scottish Dress optional). A private committal service will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Dalhousie. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Community Food Basket, or the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home Inc.
