Obituary of Agnes May Addison

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Agnes May Addison, which occurred on Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, wife of D.J. "Paddy" Addison. Born on August 8, 1935 in Renforth, NB she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Ervia (Smith) Strachan. Agnes was a long standing employee for NBTel until her retirement. Agnes was involved with the Inner City Youth Ministry Chicken Noodle Soup Club. She was a volunteer with the Saint John Regional Hospital Auxiliary, the Arthritis Society, the food bank on Charlotte Street and the NB Competitive Festival of Music, was Past President of the Federal PC Party in Saint John, and was a member of the Saint John Irish-Canadian Cultural Association. An avid sports fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Montreal Canadians, Agnes also loved to travel and especially enjoyed her trips to Ireland. In her younger years she was very involved as a Track and Field official and won the NB and the Canadian Official of the Year Award. She is survived by her husband, Paddy and her extended family. Agnes was predeceased by her sister, Alice Connolly. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held from St. John’s (Stone) Church on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 10:30 am. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Arthritis Society or the Saint John Regional Hospital Auxiliary.
