Obituary of Donald O. Boyce
His family sadly announces the passing of Don Boyce, husband of Opal (Quigley) Boyce which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, May 7, 2013. He was born on October 4, 1930 in Saint John to the late Otis and Dorothy (Jamieson) Boyce. Don was a member of the Saint John Police Force for 36 years, retiring in 1991 as Staff Inspector. He was the Head Officer of the Saint John Police Force Youth Division in its infancy. Don was a life member of Waterloo Street Baptist Church where he sang in the choir, and served on the Church Board. He was a charter member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Don was a loyal Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays fan. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and bowling. Don is survived by his wife of 57 years, Opal; their daughters: Linda Parks (Ron) of Willow Grove; Lori Livingston (Kevin) of Welsford and Leanne Boyce of Saint John; brother, Allison (Carma); sister-in-law: Betty Baxter (Bryan); grandchildren: Matthew Stewart (Crystal), Shauna Stewart, Alycia Livingston and Trevor Livingston; step-granddaughter, Melissa Daly (Jim); great-grandchildren: Gracie, Chasity, Isabella, Matthew, and Christopher and several nieces, nephews and cousins.Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Wednesday from 7-9 pm and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Red Cross Senior’s Services would be appreciated by the family.
