Obituary of Jane Burnham Demmings

It is with sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Jane Burnham Demmings on December 30, 2012. Jane was born in Woodstock New Brunswick on September 12, 1965 and from her early childhood, lived in Saint John. She graduated from St Vincent’s High School and the University of New Brunswick, Saint John. Jane was employed as an accountant for the Dowd Group of Companies. She will be remembered for her warm, friendly heart and her joy of living. Jane loved her physical fitness groups, gardening, baking chocolate chip cookies and making truffles at Christmas time for family and friends. She had many good times travelling with her family. Jane was most appreciative for the support of family and friends in Fundraising for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation during the twelve years of her journey with cancer. Jane is survived by her parents: W Lorimer and Carolyn Demmings; her sister, Susan (Yvan Nguyen), her cherished niece, Sofia Nguyen; her grandmother, Margaret Demmings; her uncles, Richard Burnham (Charlotte), Raymond Burnham (Jeanne), Jack Burnham (Jennifer), and Dwight Demmings, her aunt, Winifred DeLong (Gerald); great aunts: Marion Garber, and Betty Wright and cousins, Victoria, Christina, Ross, Erica, Johanna, Jason, Barbara, Margaret and Joanne. Family and friends will be received from 2–4 and 6-8 pm on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John NB (634-7424). A celebration of Jane’s life will be held at Portland United Church, 50 Newport Crescent Saint John NB on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 11:00 am with the Reverend Jennifer Uhryniw officiating. Jane and all of her family wish to thank the Medical community for their friendship, care and compassion over the past twelve years. Interment will take place at a later date in Florenceville Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jane’s memory may be made to Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation Oncology Department, Neuro Surgery Department, the Extra Mural Program or charity of the donor’s choice.
