Obituary of Doreen Constance Parker
In her 90th year after a full life, with her family at her side, Doreen Parker (Silliphant) joins her loving husband, Ralph Nichols Parker, on Monday, May 14, 2012. Doreen was born at home, in Saint John on May 25, 1922 to the late William and Marguerite (Daley) Silliphant. She was a graduate of Saint John High School and Modern Business College. She was a member of Centenary Queen Square United Church, actively participating in Sunday School classes, UCW and Meals on Wheels. Doreen was an avid reader and loved music of the Big Band Era, Lawrence Welk and Andre Rieu. She is survived by her children: Charles Parker (Linda) of Rothesay, Susan Clark (Stephen) of Fredericton and Marilyn Morrow of Saint John; grandchildren: Jennifer Morehouse, Jocelyn Parker, Kristopher Parker (Kelly) of Moncton, Rebecca Parker, Michael and Jonathan Clark (Liz) of Hamilton, ON; great grandchildren: Parker, Griffin and Karson Morehouse, Nickolas and Matthew Parker, Jacob MacDonald and Kenneth Webb-Clark. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brothers: Howard and Donald Silliphant and a sister, Helen Brown. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A celebration of Doreen’s life will take place at Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Woodman’s Point. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Diabetes Association, Kidney Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice. Heartfelt thanks to the staff on 5CS at the Saint John Regional Hospital who assisted in making her comfortable in her final days. Those who had an opportunity to know her loved her. May God bless and keep her.
