Obituary of Esric Dalton Bentley Blackett
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Esric Dalton "Bentley" Blackett of Saint John, NB, which occurred on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born in St James, Barbados to the late Miriam Kathleen Elgitha (Osbourne) and Ethelbert Arnold Blackett.
Bentley spent time in England and Nova Scotia before settling down to live in Saint John and begin his 35 year career as a welder at Saint John Shipbuilding. He was an avid fan of harness racing, billiards, soccer, cricket- really, any and all sports.
He is survived by one daughter, Leah (Chris) Hutchinson-White; two grandchildren, Cameron and Sophie; former spouse, Rosalyn (White); many nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.
The family invites those who knew and loved Bentley to join them on Thursday, April 11th to celebrate his life in Brenan’s Reception Room, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424) at 6:30pm. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to PRO Kids, Saint John would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be placed at www.brenansfh.com.
