Obituary of Carleata Evelyn Norris

After a lengthy illness, the family of Carleata (Carley) Norris sadly shares the news of her passing on April 25, 2019. She received excellent care at Bobby’s Hospice for this past month. The family is so very grateful for all the special love and care Carley received through the staff and volunteers.

Carley was born in New Waterford, Cape Breton on November 8, 1930.  She was a graduate of Saint John High School and Modern Business College. Carley worked in the stenographic field most of her working career. Her last employment was in housekeeping at the St. John & St. Stephen Nursing Home.

Having grown up on her grandparent’s farm in Dorchester, NB Carley had a deep love of the country, especially the lakes in the Lakewood area and Rob and Cyndi’s Cottage on the Washademoak. She enjoyed many bus trips with her friend Davine.

She was the daughter of the late Evelyn Hargreaves Amiro. Predeceased by husband Newton Norris(1988), son Robert Norris (2017) and 2 brothers Thomas Hargraves and James Fillmore.  Survived by son Randall Norris, granddaughters; Shannon Norris, Charmaine Norris, 2 greatgrandchildren; Brooke and Everett McGouey, Rob’s wife Cyndi, 2 grandsons; Craig (Roxy) Norris and Cory Norris, sisters in law; Eva Bacon, Eleanor Fillmore, Elva Norris and many nieces and nephews. Many dear and special friends, especially Terry-Lee Martin, Mina Potter and Davine Nice.

A very special thank you to caregivers Stephanie and Katie while Carley was at home.

Carley was a kind and gentle soul that enjoyed a simple life. She enjoyed country music, was always ready for fun and a good laugh. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her so dearly.
