Obituary of Dave Carson
With great sadness, but with appreciation for a life well-lived, the family of Dave Carson announce his passing on Monday, May 13, 2019, following his battle with ALS. Born June 7, 1948 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Albert and Marjorie (Peacock) Carson.
In his earlier years, Dave worked for the Telegraph Journal and Vaughn Electronics. He then became self-employed, and was a well-known Electronic Technician or “sound man”, working in the Saint John area for years. He had a passion for teaching, and was instrumental in the re-opening of the Rock of Ages school in Rothesay earlier this year, generously donating equipment and funds to help keep the school running as a fitting end to his life. Through his work, Dave met and helped many people and touched so many lives.
Dave will be missed by his sister, Nancy Gallagher; niece, Jennifer Wilkins and her daughter Josie; nephew, Tom Gallagher; goddaughter, Melanie McIllwraith; best friend, Fred Allan (Brenda); and his fur baby, Jake. He was predeceased by his parents.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A Celebration of Dave’s Life will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 12 noon from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the ALS Society or Epilepsy Canada would be appreciated by the family. Please place online condolences and remembrances at www.brenansfh.com.
